Benns Ethicoa is a Malaysian craft chocolate maker committed to ethical sourcing, sustainability, and flavor innovation. We work directly with local farmers to create tree-to-bar chocolates that highlight the unique terroir of Asian cacao. We don’t just make chocolate — we create it, one origin at a time.

• Bean to bar refers to the process of making chocolate from scratch (from the raw cacao bean). Each step of the chocolate making process is carefully controlled, from the bean selection to the sorting, roasting, cracking, winnowing etc. all the way to the moulding. 
• Often made in small batches, we care greatly about bringing out the specific and unique flavour notes of each batch of cacao beans to produce good quality dark chocolate. 
• Using only 3 natural ingredients (cacao nibs, cocoa butter and unrefined cane sugar), our chocolates are 100% natural, vegan, gluten-free and nut-free.

Tasting notes refer to the distinct, natural flavour of a piece of chocolate.

Each bean to bar chocolate from a single origin should have unique tasting notes that reflect the terrior (environment) the cacao beans used were grown in. 

Flavours can range from fruity, floral or nutty to more exotic tastes like coffee, burnt caramel or smoky! 

While our dark chocolate does indeed contain some natural unrefined cane sugar, the sugar content is still significantly less than many commercial chocolates out there and we do not use any artificial sweeteners and high fructose corn syrup.

Nibs are bits of fermented, dried, roasted and crushed cacao bean. It is the most raw form of edible chocolate that hasn’t been grounded and mixed with sugar yet.
